About MeI am an ethicist and writer specialising in blockchain technology– located in Hertfordshire (outskirts of London, UK). I entered the blockchain field during the 1st year of my Law & Philosophy degree. I was drawn to it when I realised the seismic potential this technology has. Permissionless, open, and decentralized systems have the ability to change the very nature of our socieities. They remove the necesscity for financial or data-based custodians (3rd parties), and they empower individuals by giving them control of their own possessions.
Blockchain technology is about autonomy. It gives us rightful jurisdiction over our digital realities. This is going to become so much more important as we move closer to metaverse realities and highly digitized existences. My desire is to be a conduit within this industry, helping to navigate the technology towards a path of global flourishing (or eudaimonia). I am aiming to bring this technology into direct alignment with the human experience. I firmly believe it has the potential to trigger a new wave of contemporary living; one where people feel more empowered, liberated, and comfortable than ever before. The best way to reach out to me is via my email address (I am open to any and all types of communication). I am a supporter of the Polkadot Naming System (PNS). Find me over at Philosopher.dot! |

What Does a Blockchain Ethicist do?The role of a blockchain ethicist is to ensure that a project is meeting morally acceptible standards. They focus on how projects are running, the ideas behind them, and the ways in which users and team members are being treated. They ensure nothing exploitative, suspicious, or harmful is taking place.
As an example, a blockchain ethicist may examine how decentralized a network is and devise a plan on how to improve this. They may look at funding practicies and tokenomic structures. They may even inspect marketing strategies and ensure there are no unsavoury ideas presented. The most important task for a blockchain ethicist is to ensure the wellbeing of all stakeholders is being considered and treated in a fair maner. Essentially, their role is no different from a standard tech ethicist, only with more specific training within the industry. I have a highly specialised knowledge of this field– I understand the nature of its participants, and the direction and scope of the technology involved. In many ways, blockchain ethicists act as a form of specialised advisor, focusing on the wellbeing and moral integrity of a company. But... Why do We Need Blockchain Ethicists? This industry is extremely new. We are at the bleeding-edge of both FinTech and the data sector all at once. This is a unique form of technology. However, this industry is riddled with dubious and harmful activity.
The blockchain and crypto sphere is filled with environmental worries, gambling concerns, and all-round scammers. This technology is extremely powerful, and with that, comes great dangers. It is the role of a Blockchain Ethicist to explore these areas and tidy them up as best as they can. An ethicist keeps your project clean. Having a blockchain ethicist on your team shows you are serious about everything happening within this industry, including its moral aspects. In an age where society is shining a light on the ethics of the tech world, having an ethicist on your team can mean a lot. |
